The moment I found out my 24 cm fibroid may keep me from having children, I immediately went into prayer. I do not even know the words that came out of my doctor’s mouth after that because I had completely zoned out to talk to God. The moment I found out I was pregnant; I went into prayer. I prayed without ceasing my entire pregnancy and I pray for Winston all day every day now. Forget Ciara’s prayer, baybee ain’t nothing like a mama’s (or daddy’s) prayer.
Praying for our children is an essential part of parenting. As parents, we want nothing but the best for our babies, and that includes a healthy body, a sound mind, and a strong spirit. While there are many ways to nurture our children’s well-being, prayer is one of the most effective.
Thankfully, we do not have to guess on this one. The instructions are clear. The Bible is filled with countless verses that speak to the importance of prayer and the value of praying for our kids. These are some of my favorite scriptures that inspire and guide me as I pray with and for Win. Let’s get into it.
“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” – Psalm 127:3
This verse reminds us that our children are not ours to possess but rather a precious gift from God. We must take our responsibility as parents seriously and pray that we raise our children to be kind, loving, and God-fearing individuals.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
This scripture emphasizes the importance of teaching our children the ways of the Lord. We must pray that our children grow up with a deep understanding of God’s love, grace, and mercy. Shoutout to my parents. They took this one seriously and I thank them.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6
As parents, we may often (and by often, I mean all of the time) worry about our children’s safety, health, and future. This verse reminds us to turn our anxieties over to God and trust in His plan for our children. We must pray for our children’s protection, guidance, and success in all areas of life.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
This verse is a powerful reminder that God has a plan for each of our lives, including our children. Mamas must pray that that our children fulfill God’s purpose for their lives and live in His will.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24
This verse encourages us to have faith in our prayers. We must trust that God hears our prayers and will answer them according to His will.
My sister bought me this amazing book as a gift and Win and I dig into it often (this is one of those great gift ideas for mamas that I also mention here) and yes they have one for baby girls too, see here. I love how each set of pages provide a scripture and a prayer. We usually use it a wrap up to our nightly story time.
As we pray for your children, we must remember to trust in God’s plan for their lives, teach them the ways of the Lord, and have faith in our prayers. Our prayers can have a powerful impact on our children’s lives and futures. Mama should never stop praying (turn to ya left and say neighbor…you have to pray without ceasing). We must always have our minds on the things of God. Even at my big age, my mama’s prayers are still working. Praise God for that! Let the church say Amen? Amen!
That’s It. That’s All Yall.

Beautiful blog! Your “amazing books” link leads me to Prayers for Boys. I’m not sure if you still receive credit when I click Prayers for Girls. Perhaps you want to consider adding a link for both in your post. I’m going to order 2 of the baby scripture books but can hold off for a couple of days. Blessings!
